Scott F. Sawtelle
Scott
Sawtelle was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts where he lived and
worked around the historic City of Boston all his life before
joining the U.S. Army. Mr. Sawtelle served domestically and overseas
as a Military Policeman for a number of years before being honorably
discharged from active to reserve duty. Mr. Sawtelle returned to the
City of Boston to study sociology and criminal justice at Suffolk
University and shortly thereafter graduated cum laude with a
Bachelor of Science degree in 1997.
Mr. Sawtelle went on to study law at
the Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Lansing, Michigan where he
concentrated in trial litigation before earning a Jurist Doctor in
2001.
After law school, Mr. Sawtelle
immediately accepted a position as an Assistant Public Defender in
Seminole County before transferring to the Volusia County Public
Defender's Office, where he practiced criminal defense in the County
and Circuit Courts between 2002 and 2006.
During this time, Mr. Sawtelle
gained valuable criminal defense experience in the areas of; motion
practice, depositions, negotiation skills, and criminal trial
litigation by defending indigent clients charged with various felony
crimes; including capital sex batteries, armed robberies, aggravated
assault and batteries, armed home invasion, DUI manslaughters, drug
trafficking, and other various felony and misdemeanor crimes. Mr.
Sawtelle eventually joined the firm in July, 2006, and continues to
practice criminal law.
Mr. Sawtelle has been a member of
the Florida Bar since 2002 and in U.S. Middle District of Florida
since 2004. Mr. Sawtelle is currently a member of the Central
Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the Florida
Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
