G. Kipling Miller
A
resident of Volusia County since 1976, Mr. Miller attended Stetson
University and St. Thomas University School of Law. After graduating
from law school, he accepted a position with the State Attorney’s
Office with the Seventh Judicial Circuit. Starting in the misdemeanor
division, Mr. Miller prosecuted literally hundreds of DUI and other
misdemeanor cases.
He was selected to become the first prosecutor in the newly created
domestic violence division. He was then promoted to the felony
division. There he was responsible for all pre-trial and trial work in
such cases as sexual battery, driving and boating under the influence
manslaughter, drug possession and trafficking, and murder. He was
ultimately selected as a “lead felony trial attorney.” In that
position he was responsible, not only for his assigned cases, but
supervision of other trial attorneys in his division.
Mr. Miller was given the “Top Gun” trial attorney award in 1995 and
1999 by the State Attorney, John Tanner. This award signified and
recognized him as the top trial attorney out of the over 50 lawyers in
the Seventh Judicial Circuit. It was shortly after his last “Top Gun”
award that he joined the Whited Law Firm.
